Again, Supreme Court adjourns review of Imo governorship verdict

The Supreme Court has again adjourned sitting in an application seeking review of the verdict of the apex court concerning Imo governorship election.

This is not the first time the hearing has been adjourned. The second adjourned is at the instance of the legal team of Emeka Ihedioha and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Ihedioha, a former governor, and his party, were sacked by the apex court in an application brought before it by Hope Uzodimma and the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The PDP and its candidate approached the Supreme Court seeking review of the judgment ousting them.

Their lawyer, Kanu Agabi (SAN) said the 1st and 2nd respondents – Mr Uzodimma and the APC – just served them some documents before the court sat.

Mr Agabi prayed the court for time to enable him respond. He suggested that the court allow them to return tomorrow (Tuesday) for hearing.

Despite objections from the legal teams of the APC – which confirmed serving their opponents the documents moments ago – and that of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, who led the court’s seven-man panel, acceded to Agabi’s request and adjourned till March 3, 2020 for hearing.
