Abba Kyari pleads not guilty as co-defendants plead guilty to alleged cocaine trafficking

Two alleged drug traffickers, arraigned alongside suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari and his accomplices, pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne pleaded guilty to importing 21.35kilogrammes of cocaine.

They pleaded guilty to three counts (5, 6 and 7) which included them out of the eight counts they, Abba Kyari and four others were jointly charged with.

Mr Kyari and four other accomplices pleaded not guilty when count 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 were read to them at a federal high court sitting in Abuja Monday morning.
