Abba Kyari drags FG to court, seeks release from NDLEA custody

Detained Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari has dragged the federal government to court over his continued detention by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Mr Kyari was handed over to the anti-drug agency by the police after he was declared wanted over illicit drug related offences.

Daily Post reports that the suspended cop filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, praying for the court to immediately order his release on health grounds.

He instituted the legal action through his lawyer, Mrs. P. O. Ikenna, at the federal high court sitting in Abuja and Justice Inyang Ekwo who presided over the case when it was called up on Monday noted that the suit contained some averments that would require FG’s response.

“Upon studying the process of the Applicant and averments in support thereon, I am of the opinion that the Respondent (FG) should be put on notice”, the Judge held.
