Suspended cop, Abba Kyari, has been arrested hours after being declared wanted by the National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Mr Kyari was declared wanted on Monday after shunning the invitation of the agency, according to its spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said while making the declaration at the Abuja headquarters of NDLEA.
This is coming months after he was suspended for alleged links to internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Huspuppi, who has pleaded guilty to a fraudulent $1.1million deal which Kyari took part for it to scale through.
He has denied wrongdoings in his severally edited and deleted rebuttals, lastly admitting he only acted as a debt collector for Mr Abbas.
Reporting his arrest, Punch Newspapers, said the embattled officer was picked up by the police alongside four other suspects.
Quoting a police source, the national daily, said Mr Kyari was handcuffed like other arrested suspects and not given preferential treatment.
“He has been arrested,” the source confirmed. “He was handcuffed and will be handed over to the appropriate agency. He was not given any preferential treatment.”
