2023: South must produce next president – Governors

The Southern part of the country must produce the next president of the country, governors from the 17 states have said.

The state helmsmen made the declaration on Monday after their meeting in Lagos State. Chairman of the forum, Rotimi Akeredolu, read the communique after the meeting.

Insecurity, constitutional amendment, PIB and anti-open grazing law were among top issues discussed.

Although it commended lawmakers for passing the PIB the forum however rejected the three per cent profit earmarked for host communities.

It also set September 21, 2021, as deadline for the promulgation of anti-open grazing law in all member-states while choosing Lagos as their permanent-secretariat.
