Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State has been disqualified by a federal high court sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Justice Emmanuel Adema Obile gave the verdict in a ruling on Thursday, in a suit instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Cole was largely disqualified over his dual citizenship of voluntarily being a United Kingdom citizen and declaration of allegiance to the same country.
The politician was also shown the exit door because he is said to not have being duly nominated by his political party; non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not monitoring the delegates’ election that produced him.
