2023: I’m much more qualified than other presidential aspirants – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says he is much more qualified than other presidential aspirants who are reportedly eyeing the top job.

The outgoing governor stated this on Channels Television Tuesday evening while arguing that the likes of Bola Tinubu, Rochas Okorocha, Bukola Saraki, Dave Umahi, Aminu Tambuwal, Pius Anyim, Kingsley Moghalu, Sam Ohuabunwa and Dele Momodu who have all declared interest for the position are better than him.

Known to be eyeing the seat but are yet to declare include; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Atiku Abubakar, former vice president; Senate Chief Whip, Orji Kalu; Rabiu Kwakwanso, former Kano Central Senator; Peter Obi, former Anambra governor and former president Goodluck Jonathan.

“For somebody of my kind and record, a governor and a minister, I don’t even see anybody who will tell me that he is much more qualified than me,” he asserted. “I don’t think that is possible.

“Assuming today I want to run for the office of the president, what quality do you think I do not have? Why do you think I cannot provide the right leadership for Nigeria to move forward?”

The Rivers helmsman also charged presidential hopefuls to explain to Nigerians how they are going tackle problems bedeviling the nation.

“All I preach is that people should talk on issues. Nigeria has a problem. If they have given you the opportunity, what are you going to do to make sure that Nigerians benefit?” he asked.
