2019 Election: Atiku Advised To Concede Defeat, Call Buhari

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been advised to concede defeat and congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari, projected winner of the presidential race.

Mr Buhari who is seeking a second term in office is running on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Results from states as reported by POLITICS TIMES in our live updates showed the president is coasting to victory and will likely emerge winner.

The former vice president popularly known as Atiku has been advised to concede defeat to the Nigerian leader. The advise comes from Dele Momodu, a supporter of the PDP candidate and publisher of Ovation Magazine.

In advising the PDP candidate, the publisher urged him to place a call to the president congratulating him for his victory at the poll.

“My dear WAZIRIN, as a believer, you are aware that only God can give or take power,” Momodu through his Twitter handle told Atiku while calling him by his title.

“You’ve written your name in gold. Do not wait a minute longer. Please, pick that phone and call President Muhammadu Buhari. You have much more to gain Sir… Pass on the burden!” the publisher advised.

As at press time, it is unclear if the former vice president would adhere to the advise.

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, towed the same line of action while conceding defeat during the 2015 general election.

Mr Jonathan although a sitting president at the time placed a call to Buhari who was then opposition candidate.

The action of the former president earned him global recognition given that incumbent presidents across the African continent do not concede defeat when defeated in their countries.
